All you need to know about eSIM
Browse our knowledge base and dive into the world of eSIM

An eSIM is a SIM Card, permanently embedded into new smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

Physical SIM Cards are replaced by "Virtual SIM Cards", called eSIM profiles, that can be downloaded from our eSIM marketplace.

The eSIM.me Card is a new technology that makes your existing smartphone compatible with eSIM.

Yes, the eSIM.me APP is absolutely free. We recommend you to download it from Playstore and check if your device is compatible with eSIM.me before you order an eSIM.me card.

To find out whether your Android smartphone can be equipped with eSIM compatibility:

Please download the eSIM.me APP from the Google Playstore under https://app.esim.me

At launch, the eSIM.me APP will check if your device is compatible or not and if compatible, which SIM card slots are supported.

If it is compatible, you can buy this eSIM.me Card.

In some cases, it may not yet be compatible but a Software update may provide compatibility, so check if an Android Software update is available for your device.

KNOWN ISSUE:

On Android 13, disabling the SIM Slot that holds the eSIM.me Card, will render the currently active eSIM profile unavailable!

If for any reason you must disable the SIM Slot that holds the eSIM.me Card,
first disable the active eSIM Profile in the eSIM.me APP and only then disable the SIM Slot.

From Android 11 and newer, Android assigns a CardID to every SIM card inserted in the phone and “remembers” what the setting of that SIM card was, including its status (Enabled/Disabled).

Android OS 13 can handle eSIM profiles. As eSIM Profiles are "digital" version of a SIM Card, they also get an CardID assigned.
So each eSIM profile gets its CardID, including its status.

When you (think to) disable a SIM Slot, what actually Android does is to set the status of that CardID to "disabled".

Unfortunately, Android is then unable to set the status back to "enabled" again. This is an Android BUG.

So it will remember it was disabled and you will not be able to access that CardID, eSIM Profile.

If you already disabled the SIM Slot while your desired eSIM Profile was enabled, you have the following options:

a) Reset your phone to factory settings, that will clear the “list” of the statuses of the CardIDs.

b) If your phone is rooted, you can follow this guideline a user created, to manually enable the SIM cards in the Android list:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-fix-re-enable-disabled-esim-me-card-when-no-sim-card-is-detected-may-work-for-all-sim-cards.4548895/#post-88091389

Another option would be to install a new eSIM Profile, as the Android Bug does not affect the eSIM.me card itself, but only the single eSIM profile that was active the moment you disabled the SIM Slot.

The good news are, your eSIM Profiles are still securely stored on the eSIM.me card.

They are just not displayed due to a bug in the eSIM.me APP.

While we are working on fixing this bug, please re-install the previous Version 1.2.0.2 from the deploygate:

Beware that currently eSIM profiles from holafly may no longer be able to be installed on eSIM.me Cards.

While eSIM profiles resold by holafly used to install without any issues on eSIM.me Cards in the past, we recently receive multiple reports from users failing to install them now.

It seems that holalfy may have changed their supplier or the content of their eSIM profiles.

WARNING:

TelcoVillage GmbH, an innovative Company incorporated in Germany, is the Inventor of the eSIM.me card.

It is unsafe to purchase eSIM cards from any unauthorised provider, other than eSIM.me.

The eSIM.me Card, is the only eSIM card that is legally available.

Any 3rd party products, however they are called, are illegal copies of our intellectual property and buying these will bring the buyers into legal trouble!

We will do everything necessary to protect our property.

eSIM profile is property of the Mobile Operators.

Mobile operators will not tolerate their eSIM Profiles to be stored on plagiarism cards.

We will disclose to the mobile operators all eIDs of plagiarism cards and will enforce all eSIM profiles delivered to those cards to be invalidated.

We will also disclose those eIDs to the SM-DP+ Providers serving eSIM profiles, to black list those eIDs from receiving new eSIM profile downloads.

So users of plagiarism cards would loose all the eSIM profiles already downloaded on their plagiarism cards and would not be able to download new ones.

Fortunately, the eSIM ecosystem is a very small and organised system fully under the control and certification of the GSMA, the association of all mobile operators.

We think it is fair that you should be aware about the consequences of buying plagiarism cards!
